It was a premiere technology conference in San Jose. Some 300 attendees registered for a tutorial session, hoping to learn something that will enhance their knowledge. Well, at the end of a yawning one-day-tutorial, it was needless to say that neither the presenter felt convinced that he had delivered what he wanted nor the participants felt that they have gained something substantial.
Many of the attendees were sent by their companies, specifically to attend the tutorial. After all the trouble of travel, loss of several days of work and cost of the tutorial/travel/boarding/lodging for most of the attendees, there was no substantial gain from the tutorial.
